Berkeley Community Resource Hub Unveiled at the Alvin Recreation Center

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC) — On Friday, August 9th ,  the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, community partners, service agencies, and non-profits will unveil the third Berkeley County Resource Hub at the Alvin Recreation Center at  2191 Santee River Rd., St. Stephen, with an Agency Expo. The Expo will be from 10:00 to 1:00 and showcase the service agencies and non-profits that have agreed to provide services to the HUBS. This is part of a broader plan to establish five centers to enhance connectivity in the county's rural areas. The hubs will offer two years of free Wi-Fi, telehealth services, wellness resources, and job and educational training opportunities. Additionally, the centers are equipped with printers, webcams, desks, chairs, and eight new Google Chromebooks for residents. State elected officials will also make a special announcement for the Alvin Community at the Agency Expo.

The opening of the third resource hub aims to increase access and knowledge to services available to all residents and increase the availability of services to our rural communities. This project is made possible through funding from Google's Data Center's Impact Program and support from numerous community partners.

The resource hub will serve as a lifeline for Berkeley County residents, providing access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities previously out of reach. With additional resource hubs planned across the county, Google is committed to partnering with the Berkeley County Chamber to bridge the digital divide and empower residents to achieve their full potential.

The opening of the Berkeley County Resource Hubs reflects the collective efforts of many people and organizations working together to build digital pathways to rural communities. Along with digital resources, a team of guides familiar with their communities will assist residents in navigating the digital landscape to access essential health, education, career, and other resources.

Everyone is invited to participate, learn about all the services provided at the HUBS, and become knowledgeable about what is available to the residents. Participants will be able to register for different services, jobs, and so very much more.
