Home Telecom Continues Its Investment in SC’s Innovation Economy with Renewed $200,000 Partnership with SCRA

MONCKS CORNER, SC June 17, 2025 — Home Telecom announces it has renewed its support for companies and researchers who advance innovative technologies across South Carolina by renewing a $200,000 Diamond-level partnership with the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA).

The funds are allocated through SCRA’s Industry Partnership Fund (IPF) to help accelerate growth in the state’s Innovation Economy. By providing support services like coaching, grants, investment, tech start-up opportunities, and academic research, a boost is given to impactful entities in the state. This effort further aids in the development of innovation to schools, researchers and entrepreneurs who develop technologies that strive to improve human experience across South Carolina.

“We’ve been family-owned and providing innovative, customized internet and communication services for businesses and residents for over 120 years in South Carolina. Our deep roots and commitment to this state give us a built-in affinity for products or services that can improve the quality of life for our employees, neighbors, and customers,” said William S. Helmly, CEO of Home Telecom. “This is why we continue to support SCRA’s mission with our state taxes.”

Contributions, both from individuals and organizations, provide a dollar-for-dollar tax credit and under some circumstances, are tax deductible as an ordinary business expense.

“Without organizations like Home Telecom, we would not be able to support our state's innovation startups. With partners like Home Telecom, we can advise them, house them, match them with industry partners, and help them relocate to South Carolina. All of this is a win for our state,” saidSCRA President and CEO Bob Quinn. “We sincerely appreciate Home Telecom’s support.”

SCRA has a mission to help innovators create high-paying jobs and provide advancements that benefit society. With Home Telecom’s partnership, SCRA can advance an all-hands-on-deck approach that inspires and proliferates community and statewide partnerships and alliances to further expand innovation.

According to SCRA’s Fiscal Year Impact Metrics Report for 2024, SCRA’s economic impact on South Carolina’s Innovation Economy was $1.3 billion, up a whopping 9.2% over 2023.

SCRA and its affiliate SC Launch, Inc. awarded over $5.2 million in grants and investment in 2024. Their startups have received more than $2.92 billion in follow-on investment capital since SC Launch’s inception in 2006.

It has also supported more than 6,600 technology and innovation jobs.
